The site also has two short introductions to the Gyre and the ocean currents that leads to the garbage patch, if you can cope with the overexcited presenter and can stop wondering why the experts are so close… ;) The second video is here.

In researching also came across the American website Plastic Jellyfish. Thanks to Mrs Hamer for telling me about how Leatherhead turtles confuse plastic bags for jellyfish, ingestion of the plastic leads to poisoning.
