Some final KES posts from Alan for the pre-release exam. The first is about Greenland, some useful questions related to the climate data and some website suggestions for wider reading. The second is about organic farming. Alan has also posted about stripy icebergs, remember that one of your physical processes is basal slippage, this ultimately leads to the formation of icebergs.

Finally a nice comment from Alan about us. Sadly Alan won’t be blogging at KES after summer, because he moves on to a post at the Geographical Association, we are indebted for his help and support over the last two years. Good luck with your new position from all at Kirk Hallam.

Only a week to go, so hope you’re revising. I will be doing lessons as useful, so free feel to come in if you haven’t got an exam. We’ll be finishing the mega-quiz (see below) and discussing potential questions relating to FUGIS.
Remember that you need to be able to explain a physical process that occurs in our extreme environment and the feature/s that it produces. We have studied ventification which results in ventifacts, and basal slippage which leads to the formation of ice shelves and icebergs. Learn at least one of these.

We also had a go at the Apprentice megaquiz, the point behind this is that you need to be highly familiar with the resources you will use; this is a problem that you found with the mock exam, unfamiliarity putting pressure on your time. I would use the questions at your own pace for revision. I will also upload the quiz for download.
I hope all the exams are going well. We only got to meet once last week, but we looked at the two issues of concern related to our place, Ilkeston. We discussed the impact of the closure of Stanton and the arrival of Tesco, please see the pre-release resources.
It looks like we will have a full session of lessons next week. There are still a couple of areas I want to cover, so please attend, even if it is just for the afternoon session. It is in your best interests. We still need to consider physical processes and FUGIS.
Alan has also added further pre-release posts, again I would be using these as part of my revision. Post 1, Post 2 and Post 3.
Alan has added a teacher invader game to his blog based on the pilot resources, remember their place and extreme environment will differ. He has also added another set of questions based on the resources.
